How to reduce noise for brushed motors?
When developing products, especially in equipment applications that require sound, noise reduction with brushed motors is often the most daunting challenge faced by design engineers.
The inherent noise problem of brushed motors is the electric brush. Due to friction with the commutator and arcing caused by the current conducted through the brush and commutator, the brush generates mechanical and electrical noise. A noise reduction level of 10 decibels is a remarkable achievement. The decibel scale is logarithmic, not linear. For every 3 dB decrease in sound level, the sound intensity will decrease by half. Therefore, Tengchi generally recommends that equipment manufacturers check the following factors at the motor angle to achieve the effect of reducing noise: researching different polishing processes, inquiring about customized carbon brushes, and tightening machining tolerances.
