The difference between high-quality brushless hollow cup motors and brushed motors.

1、 The concept of brushless motor and brushed motor

Brushless motor, also known as permanent magnet synchronous motor, is a type of motor that uses electronic commutation technology to achieve rotationI. ts rotor does not have traditional carbon brushes and electrode rings, and only has one or more sets of permanent magnets on the rotor. The motor uses an internal electronic controller to precisely control the permanent magnets of the motor, causing the rotor to rotate uniformly in the direction of rotation.
brushed motors
Brushed motor is a type of traditional motor that is equipped with carbon brushes on the electrode rings. Electrical energy is transmitted to the rotor through friction between the carbon brushes and the electrode rings, causing it to rotate. Although brushed motors have a simple structure, the friction of traditional motors generates a large amount of heat and noise, and their service life is relatively short.

2、 The difference between brushless hollow cup motor and brushed motor
1. Structural differences
In a brushless motor, the rotor is separated from the outside, and the interior of the rotor is composed of permanent magnets. There are magnetic sensors on the surface of the rotor, and the internal electronic controller obtains accurate position information of the rotor rotation through a magnetic field. Brushless motors do not require carbon brushes and electrode rings, nor do they have friction components, thus avoiding the heat and noise caused by friction in traditional motors. But it needs to be operated in conjunction with an electronic controller.

In contrast, the structure of brushed motors is relatively simple, with coils wrapped around the rotor and carbon brushes and electrode rings designed inside the rotor. The carbon brush on the electrode ring is prone to wear and therefore has a shorter service life.

2. Differences in working principles
Brushless motors use electronic commutation technology to achieve rotation, and the permanent magnet is precisely controlled by an electronic controller, so that the motor rotor rotates uniformly along the direction of rotation.

Brushed motors transmit current to the rotor through friction between carbon brushes and electrode rings, causing it to rotate.

3. Differences in applicable fields
Brushless motors are widely used in fields such as drones, electric vehicles for Beijing Racing, model aircraft, and medical equipment. In these fields, the body and controller are generally relatively small, so a smaller but higher power motor is needed to drive them.

Brushed motors are mainly suitable for low-speed, low precision, short service life, and large volume applications. For example, carbon brush motors can be applied to traditional mechanical equipment such as conveyor belts and fans.

3、 Conclusion
In summary, brushless motors have higher efficiency and lifespan, while avoiding the noise and heat generated by traditional motors due to friction. Hollow cup motors have smaller volume, higher output power, and higher speed. For applications with small volume and high power requirements, brushless hollow cup motors are a better choice.
